WhatsApp multi-agent

WhatsApp Multi-Agent vs a Workspace

Meta’s multi-agent benefit adds companion devices — up to four, or ten with Meta Verified — and a 14-day primary-phone rule. A shared workspace is a different job. This page is the short distinction. The long guide is on the blog.

Definition

What WhatsApp multi-agent actually is

WhatsApp multi-agent is Meta’s companion-device benefit: extra screens on one Business account, with published device caps and a 14-day primary-phone rule. A shared workspace is a different job — agents log in, assign chats, and keep notes that survive a lost phone.

Meta documents the caps on About multi-agent (checked 20 August 2026). Confirm the live FAQ before you treat a cap as permanent. This lander does not repeat the blog’s product taxonomy. For companion app versus Cloud API versus a shared inbox, read how multiple agents can use one WhatsApp number.

Meta’s rules

Four devices, ten with Meta Verified, 14-day primary phone

Without the paid multi-agent benefit: up to four linked devices. With multi-agent (a Meta Verified or Meta One subscription): up to ten. If the primary phone is unused for more than 14 days, linked devices disconnect. New devices still have to be linked from the primary phone. Tablets are not supported.

Those numbers describe devices signed into one WhatsApp account. They do not describe workspace permissions, a history that survives a lost phone, or a way to stop two people typing the same answer.

The other job

A workspace login is not another companion device

InboxBay sits on top of WhatsApp Business. Agents sign in to a workspace. That is the WhatsApp shared inbox — not Meta’s multi-agent benefit with a different coat of paint. InboxBay is not a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider.

Stay on Meta’s product if one person still owns every chat and you only need a second screen. Use a workspace if coverage, assignment, and a shared history are the job. The WhatsApp team inbox is the shorter one-number spoke. Plans are on pricing: Starter AED 499, Growth AED 999, Business AED 1,999 per workspace/month, 7-day trial on Ziina.

FAQ

Straight answers

What is WhatsApp multi-agent?

Meta’s companion-device benefit on the WhatsApp Business app. Extra screens sign into the same account. Meta’s FAQ documents up to four linked devices by default, or up to ten with Meta Verified multi-agent, and linked devices drop if the primary phone is unused for more than 14 days.

Is multi-agent the same as a shared inbox?

No. Multi-agent is extra devices on one WhatsApp account. A workspace is a login with assignment, notes, and a history that is not tied to a handset. InboxBay is the workspace path — not a WhatsApp BSP claim.

When is Meta’s multi-agent enough?

When one person still owns every chat and you only need a second screen on the same account — and you accept the device cap and the 14-day primary-phone rule.

Where is the longer explanation?

The guide how multiple agents can use one WhatsApp number. The product page is the WhatsApp shared inbox.
